The MyEnterpriseProject.com Functional Specification Composer has been developed
with the consultant, the customer and project in mind. The aim of the application
is to help you create high-quality, complete, correct functional specifications
quickly and efficiently.
The Functional Spec Composer helps you work through a specification, section-by-section,
adding content to complete the document, all the time guided by the “Smart-Template”
you choose on first creating the document. There is a “Smart-Template”
available for every kind of functional specification you will need to produce and
if you find something missing or find a new situation, then simply create your own.
“Smart-Template” Assignment
The first step is to assign a “Smart-Template” to the specification.
The “Smart-Template” guides you through the process and analyzes the
answers given to key questions in the specification to determine the sections that
are relevant to your situation.
Document Sections
The document is split into sections that help guide you through the process of completing
the specification. Each section presented to you is determined by the content you
put into the specification, so you only need to fill in the sections that are relevant
to you. Certain types of section can be copied in order to add different instances
of similar content, such as data table reference or screen layouts. Once a section
has been completed, then posting that section retrieves the next relevant section
for the document, based upon the content you have entered.
Toolbar Functions
The Functional Spec Composer functions are accessed via an intuitive toolbar menu.
The toolbar gives easy access to the File functions (Save, Save As, Save As New
Version), Section functions (Copy, Delete, Add), Table Row functions (Copy, Delete,
Add) and the Print Preview function.
The Functional Spec Composer contains a range of different controls to allow complete
flexibility in building a functional specification document. As well as standard
text capture, information can be gathered using drop-down selections, check-box
and radio buttons, as well as more complex controls.
Image controls allow an image file to be embedded in the specification for adding
diagrams, flow-charts, screen layouts or any type of image.
Table controls have functions for adding, copying and deleting
rows
The specification document can be saved at any point by using the "Save"
function. The specification can also be saved to a new version using the "Save
As New Version" function or to a completely new document using the “Save
As New Document” function.
Document Navigation
Navigation through the specification is provided in a document navigation tree.
This allows quick navigation between sections of the document by clicking on the
relevant section title.
Specification Management
MyEnterpriseProjects.com provides an environment to store and manage your specifications
and “Smart-Templates” on-line. The specification management page provides
management functions to create, change, copy or delete a specification. You can
also assign a due date to your specification to help track your specifications and
ensure it is completed on time. Your specifications are managed by project, giving
you immediate access to all of your documents in one place.
